Ambitious new plan to make an impact

Australia is going to fight climate change with an army of 1 billion trees over the next thirty years. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison released a media statement last week that described an ambitious new plan to plant 1 billion trees by the year 2050. This is the first real effort the country has made toward combating climate change.

Currently, Australia produces roughly 570 million metric tons of greenhouse gasses. Australia promised to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26-28% by the year 2030, which would mean getting that number down to 430-442 million metric tons -still a lot, but it’s a lot less, which is the whole point.
